Design concept: Four Seasons Astir Palace Hotel Athens

A TOPHOTELDESIGN exclusive, we take a closer look at the Four Seasons Astir Palace Hotel Athens, which opened in 2019 with 300 fully refurbished rooms and its own helipad.

This major transformation of the original Astir Palace Hotel marked the long-awaited entry of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts into Greece.

A new era for the benchmark hotel

Early 2019 saw the debut of Four Seasons Astir Palace Athens Hotel, a project that was cleverly inspired by the historic glamor of the original property. The fully renovated property is ideally located in 74 acres of lush landscape on the Athenian Riviera, 30 minutes from central Athens and Athens International Airport.

K-Studio took charge of the architectural aspects of this renovation, while Meyer davis and Martin Brudnizki Design Studio worked alongside him on the interior decoration, and TUUCI umbrellas provided. Overall, the property now exhibits a fresh, modern look that elegantly spreads to the exterior, with abundant use of natural materials throughout.

Highlights of the Four Seasons hotel’s sprawling footprint include three private beaches connected by a boardwalk, three swimming pools, five tennis courts, a basketball court, and expansive trails. Water sports such as windsurfing are also offered and families can take advantage of a free children’s program. The property even has boat access and its own helipad.

Combine modernity and heritage

Guests are accommodated in bright rooms and suites, as well as ultra-exclusive garden cottages.

Rooms and suites are spread across two separate buildings, Arion and Nafsika, while the hotel also offers eight distinct culinary concepts, from the Italian trattoria-style Mercato and beachfront Taverna 37 to the Latin American grill Helios and at the Pelagos seafood specialty restaurant. And the Four Seasons’ spa includes The Fountain House hydrotherapy area, which combines inspiration from ancient Greek traditions with state-of-the-art facilities such as an aroma steam cave, steam room, vitality pool, and refreshing showers.

Finally, the events are organized in a variety of indoor and outdoor reception spaces that can accommodate from 70 to 700 participants.
