Although Schafer is set to be the central character in “Cuckoo,” she won’t be the only notable name featured in the cast. After announcing the end of filming, Neon announced that Dan Stevens and Jessica Henwick had joined the project, along with Marton Csókás, Jan Bluthardt and Greta Fernández.
However, it looks like there are a few names missing from this announcement. When the project was first revealed in 2021, Schafer was reportedly joined by John Malkovich, Sofia Boutella and Gemma Chan. It’s unclear if these three actors are still involved in the film, and if not, why they had to pull out. Despite these apparent departures, the cast is still brimming with great acting talent that probably won’t disappoint.
There’s no shortage of behind-the-scenes talent involved in “Cuckoo” either. Joining Singer is cinematographer Paul Faltz, who Neon says shot the film on 35mm. Dario Mendez Acosta has been confirmed as the project’s production designer. As for the terrifying sounds audiences are likely to hear, Henning Hein will serve as sound designer and Simon Waskow will compose the film’s score. All four have previously worked with Singer on “Luz”.
“Cuckoo” is set to hit theaters in 2023.
