A new place to get fresh pizza and pasta on the fly heads to 3201 4th St. N in St. Petersburg, when trattoria-style restaurant Jay & Luigi celebrates its grand opening on Friday, January 28.
There will be several naturally fermented Roman and Neapolitan style pizzas to choose from on the Jay & Luigi menu, including the Sophia – with roasted garlic, tomato, arugula, sea salt, EVOO, balsamic and prosciutto – and the Sweet Jamie Kay, complete with tomato, homemade mozzarella, soppressata and Calabrian honey.
Pizza connoisseurs know this, but a Roman pizza is square and doughier, while a Neapolitan pizza is your typical thin crust, usually adorned with chunky mozzarella blobs.
One of Jay & Luigi’s star pastas will be the limoncello rigatoni, with fermented lemon, pickled chili and parmigiana cheese. Along with plenty of pizza and pasta offerings, the rest of the Italian menu will consist of small plates, salads and cauliflower rice bowls.
St. Pete’s new Italian restaurant is a culinary collaboration between Ciccio Restaurant Group and Forbici co-founder Jason Brunetti. As co-founder and former partner of Hyde Park Village’s Forbici Modern Italia and current owner of several pizzerias in New York, Brunetti is no stranger to the pizza game.
