Namibia on Friday became the 12th and final team to reserve a Super 12 spot for the 2021 ICC T20 World Cup with a big win over Ireland. In their final Group A first round match, Namibia chased a 126-point goal from 18.3 overs to register an eight-wicket victory in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. Namibia joined Bangladesh, Scotland and Sri Lanka in the first round until Super 12. Man of the match, David Wiese hit the winning points, a four to Craig Young to send his teammates into a frenzy. He went undefeated on 28 of 14, and was involved in an unbeaten stand of 53 points with skipper Gerhard Erasmus, who played a captain’s stroke (53 not of 49). Earlier, Irish skipper Andrew Balbirnie won the toss and chose to strike at bat. But, despite a good start from openers Paul Stirling (38 of 24) and Kevin O Brien (25 of 24), they only managed 125/8. Jan Frylinck took three wickets for Namibia. The former champions of Sri Lanka became the first team to qualify for the actual group tournament. They face the Netherlands already eliminated in the last game of the first round. Find cricket highlights and scores from the NAM vs IRE match here:
