New World focuses primarily on PvP and player guilds, so much so that most of the endgame of PvP revolves around conquering territories through Aeternum. Companies, the guilds’ version of the New World, can take over certain areas of the map to control and upgrade certain settlements and forts.

These locations are upgraded through the Town Projects system, allowing the Company to upgrade craft stations in the city or fort defenses. Participating in city projects yourself is a sure-fire way to level up faster and unlock higher-level crafting stations sooner. We’ll go over what city projects are, why you should complete them, and what each project does.

What are the city’s plans?

New World Colony

Town projects are community quests that focus on improving a specific part of a settlement. Once a city project is started, the settlement city project board will earn a quest set that any player can participate in. Completing these quests will help progress towards completing the Colony Upgrade and grant your character a small chunk of XP.

All city projects must be signed by a governor or consul of the company that owns the colony; no one else can start a city project. Businesses can start any city project they deem appropriate with the Land Use Planning Board, located in the town hall of the settlement. Completing a city project will improve the city to some extent, improving craft stations for settlements or a fort’s defensive capabilities. Companies can also set up a Lifestyle Improvement Project, granting a three-day buff that improves the amount of materials gathered, combat traits, or the equipment score of items you craft.

To note: Lifestyle projects only affect those who own a home in that area.

As a business improves a rule, the rank of the rule increases. The names of each row are below:

Stage Rules Strong
Level 1 Hamlet Strong
Level 2 Town Bastion
Level 3 City Keep
Level 4 City Chateau
Level 5 Capitol Citadel

The best city council quests

In fgeneral, common crafting and resource quests are the most effective. They require a minimum of farming and give a good chunk of XP. That said, pay attention to the type of item the quest calls for. If it’s a semi-rare material like Magnetic Stones or Silver, you might be better off waiting for the City Project Board to reset. Explorer’s Needed is rarely worth doing unless it’s right next to another quest.
