Ousmane Dembele is in the last chance saloon in Barcelona

There is no doubt that when Ousmane Dembele is injury free he is one of the most dangerous strikers in European football.

In flight, it resembles a gazelle, gracefully relieving opponents left in its wake.

The problem for Barcelona is that those moments are rare and have been since joining as Neymar’s supposed replacement in 2017.

According to AS, Barca’s new coach Xavi Hernandez sees the Frenchman as the cornerstone of his new project.

Perhaps it is this confidence along with a change in medical personnel that could revive Dembele’s fortunes.

With his contract expiring next summer, the wide man is free to talk to other clubs from January 1.

Until then, as long as Dembele regains his physical form, Xavi will surely hope to get the best out of him and persuade him, through his own actions as a manager, that staying at Camp Nou is his best option.

This will require a swift signing of a new deal, and if that doesn’t happen, it may be time for the club to cut their losses against a player who has never risen through the ranks despite such a promise.
