Seven Ways to Prepare Your Home for Sale | News, Sports, Jobs

Its good. Do not worry. This green stuff in front of your house is called grass.

You may not remember it because of all the snow, but it does exist. Seeing the grass again can only mean one thing: spring is in the air.

The busiest selling season for real estate is spring. It’s the time of year when, like your weed, buyers reappear and hit the market for sales season. Warmer weather reminds us that it’s time to prepare your home for sales season, and here are seven things you can do to prepare for the busy season ahead.

• Create a to-do list — This step is easy to miss when you’re busy switching between projects, but it’s definitely worth the time to create a to-do list. Sort tasks by priority and be sure to update your list as you add new projects or complete existing ones. Once you have your list, post it somewhere you’ll see it often.

• Prune Shrubs and Trees — As you prune, consider whether you want to add new landscaping features or exterior lighting to enhance curb appeal.

• De-clutter your home — Buyers want to be able to imagine what life would be like in your home, so it’s a good idea to clear clutter and belongings when you’re preparing to sell your home. A clutter-free home is also much easier to clean between visits.

• Property Inspection — Having your home inspected will help you develop a plan of action and reveal potential issues that could stall a sale if they go unnoticed. Ask around for references and look for an inspector with a proven track record of thoroughness.

• Meet your agent — The real estate market never really sleeps and your real estate agent is always on the job. Schedule a time to talk strategy and get your questions answered before the peak season begins. One of the things a real estate agent will bring is market information. To help you, you will find on this page the number of houses sold, in inventory and the chances of selling your house in Mahoning, Columbiana and Trumbull counties in the price range of your house, as of February 23, 2022.

• Home Improvements — This is a great time to tackle small home improvement projects like painting, pressure washing exterior surfaces or updating your flooring. Every little improvement makes a difference, but you’ll probably want to save the big renovation projects for your next home.

• Prepare — Selling your home takes a lot of time and energy, so it’s a good idea to prepare for the selling season. Make a plan, coordinate with other family members, and maybe even set aside some time to relax before tours and open houses start.

We’ve all prepared for spring, and your home is no different. Selling your home is much easier when you take the time to plan, prepare and put your strategy into action. The right real estate agent will help make selling your home easier this spring and these seven steps are where to start.
