Shoal Bay Beach is intermittently closed during ongoing sand crossing operation | Port Stephens Examiner


Access to Shoal Bay beach was temporarily suspended this week while a sand crossing operation is being carried out.

The operation consists of “reinforce the sand dunes which have been dug by erosion ”.

Work began on September 20 and will continue until September 26 with the beach closing intermittently from 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day.

A number of Port Stephens Council works are currently underway across the LGA, including the construction of shared lanes at Allied Avenue, Tanilba Bay (between Rigney Rd and the North Gate), Lemon Tree Passage Road, Mallabula (between Crawley Cres and Blanch St) and Nelson Bay Road, Fern Bay (between Taylor and Rankin Rds).

The abandoned development of the Ross Walbridge Reserve, Raymond Terrace was demolished.

Most of the demolition work at Stuart Park, Hinton has been completed. The portable kiosk building has been removed from the site.

Cinder block work on the amenities pavilion in the modernization of the Tomaree Sports Complex is now complete and work has started on the multi-purpose pavilion while masonry work at the nearby Tomaree Aquatic Center is nearing completion.

Improvements to amenities at the George Reserve in Salamander Bay have been completed.
