Tellurian files application for new pipeline project to serve southwest Louisiana

Tellurian Inc. (Tellurian) has announced that its wholly owned subsidiary Driftwood Pipeline LLC has filed a formal application with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to construct and operate Lines 200 and 300, a highway of approximately 37 miles, double 42 inches in diameter. pipeline that will originate near Ragley in the parish of Beauregard, Louisiana and terminate near Carlyss in the parish of Calcasieu, Louisiana.

The new pipeline was designed and routed to connect supply located 21 miles north of Lake Charles to demand in and south of Lake Charles, bypassing what has become a constrained, complex transportation route. and expensive.

As part of the design, Driftwood Pipeline proposes to deploy electrical compression supplied by Baker Hughes, thereby reducing pipeline carbon dioxide emissions by more than 99%. The proposed pipeline project, together with other strategic measures taken by Tellurian, will result in a reduction of almost one million tonnes per year in direct greenhouse gas emissions (an overall reduction of 14%).

President and CEO Octávio Simões said: “This new completed pipeline design delivers definitive and measurable results for emission reductions and is another step in Tellurian’s overall strategy to support and balance global energy needs and environmental concerns. “

“Tellurian has demonstrated its commitment to providing a cleaner source of energy to the growing global population through early support of impactful environmental studies, new infrastructure design with advanced materials and advanced environmental procedures for our upstream operations. In addition, our latest trade agreements have included provisions for tracking and documenting liquefied natural gas cargo emissions. Tellurian will continue to explore ways to work with the US administration and contribute to its plan for a cleaner climate with a focus on tackling energy poverty at home and abroad, ”added Simões.

Tellurian has advocated for multiple environmental improvement efforts and has contributed nearly US $ 3 million to financially support Columbia University’s Center on Global Energy Policy and its mission to advance energy and climate solutions. concrete through research and education; a multi-sponsor study on the formation of the hydrogen market by the Energy Futures Initiative led by former Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz; and the University of Texas at Austin, which performs energy life cycle analysis. Operationally, Tellurian currently owns and operates upstream assets in the Haynesville dry shale gas formation and conducts emissions monitoring and green completions as part of our ongoing efforts to understand, report and minimize emissions from greenhouse gas.
