D1 Training, a leading fitness concept utilizing the five fundamentals of athletic training, opened a new location in Naples at 3397 Pine Ridge Road beginning May 2. The group fitness center uses a workout program backed by sports science led by certified trainers to help people of all ages achieve their athletic and fitness goals.

Owner Alex Nicholas has over 25 years of experience in the fitness industry and is a former D1 football player himself. Prior to starting D1 Training Naples, Mr. Nicholas worked for various fitness concepts during his career and most recently was hired to build the first obstacle course gym in Miami. Unfortunately, this prospect was closed during COVID, but Mr. Nicholas was determined to find a concept he could bring to his new residence in Naples.

“I wanted to bring a unique new concept to Naples, and the school education really caught my eye, especially with my own children starting their sporting journey,” said Nicholas. “D1 Training offers many different personalized sessions for kids and adults of all ages, and we look forward to making this place a staple in the Naples community.”

Mr Nicholas has made appearances on fitness competition TV shows including Steve Austin’s Broken Skull Challenge, American Ninja Warrior and Sweat Inc., with Jillian Michaels. He will join a list of existing franchisees and owners, some of which include professional athletes such as Super Bowl MVP Von Miller, Tim Tebow and Michael Oher.

D1 Naples offers five age-based programs, including Rookie (7-11 years old), Developmental (12-14 years old), Prep (15-18 years old), and D1 Adult. Each fitness program is based on the five athletic principles: dynamic warm-up, performance, strength program, sheathing and conditioning, and recovery. Apart from group training, D1 Training offers individual training with world-class trainers. The goal is simple: to continue developing athletes who are dedicated to their sport or fitness goals, regardless of age or athletic background.

Strategically expanding across the country through franchising, D1 Training has over 50 performance centers open with over 120 additional sites in development. The brand is currently looking for qualified and active community members to expand its footprint and help more people achieve their fitness goals.
