Vodafone Idea upgrades 4G sites in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh with 900MHz, 1800MHz spectrum rollout, Telecom News, ET Telecom

NEW DELHI: Vodafone Idea on Thursday announced that it has deployed the effective 900 MHz spectrum at 3,043 sites as well as the 1,800 MHz band at 11,772 sites in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, respectively, to improve indoor 4G connectivity of its users.

“Vi customers in commercial/residential areas of Indore, Bhopal, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Raipur, Ujjain, Bilaspur, Dewas, Dhar and other major cities enjoy enhanced voice and data experience even indoors in high population pockets of these cities,” Vodafone Idea said in a statement.

Moreover, with 4,200 new TDD sites, 730 HOS, the data capacity has increased 2.4 times between September 2018 and May 2022, Vi claimed.

Vodafone Idea has 92 MHz spectrum across all bands – 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz, 2300 MHz and 2500 MHz, which represents a total stake of 31% in the circle.

Vi said he has installed/upgraded 4,115 broadband towers since March 2021, bringing total 4G population coverage to 71.9% in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) in association with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs) and Vodafone Idea have launched a pilot project on the deployment of 5G small cells and aerial fiber using street furniture in the city of Bhopal to understand the challenges of deploying small cells in smart city projects.

“We have undertaken several initiatives over the past year to expand our 4G coverage in the circle as well as to strengthen indoor network coverage in cities. Vi customers can choose from a bouquet of choice plans that allow every family member to do more and achieve more on Vi’s 4G network,” Abhijit Kishore, Chief Operating Officer, Vodafone Idea, said in a statement.
